Through Northeastern University’s coop program, I acquired 1 year and 4 months of professional work experience through 3 different internships at the following companies.
Mechanical Design Coop
July 2016 – December 2016
Conceptualized and designed next generation product ideas on CAD in SolidWorks for manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding and sheet metal bending. Verified functionality of designs through prototyping techniques (such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and machine shop tools), and through simulation analysis (such as FEA and CFD on SolidWorks). Became proficient in ePDM, GD&T, and DFA and DFM.
Developmental Engineering Coop
September 2015 – December 2015
Researched and quantified leak parameters for a 60 liter compressed air circuit in the system. Built a scaled down prototype, incorporating thermal and pressure sensors, and replicated the leak rates expected from the system. Sourced different leak locating tools (ranging from methods including infrared topography, ultrasound sensors, and tracer gas methods), and created testing protocols for each. Optimized solution to effectively reduce system downtime by 25%.
Advanced Robotics Research Coop
July 2014 – December 2014
Created a Javascript based simulation model on AnyLogic to study the performance of the next generation of autonomous warehouse robots. Identified key robot characteristics, such as robot idle time, robot moving time, and bottlenecks in the system. Optimized the routing of the robots in order to avoid collisions, and tested my algorithms on the hardware. My routing effectively reduced robot idle time to less than 2% (as is desired).
