Company: ASML, Wilton CT, USA
Industry: Manufacturing of Lithographic Scanners Used in the Production of Semiconductors
Role: Team Lead (TL) for New Product Introduction on the YieldStar Module
Duration: October 2019 – Current
Overview: I transitioned to the YieldStar project as an opportunity to work with a larger team, on a slightly more complex opto-mechanical module. The design engineers on my team grew from 3 to 10 at the time that I onboarded the project; however, since the start of 2021, my current team has grown to 18 designers. Without disclosing too much detail, the YieldStar sensor is an opto-mechanical assembly; however unlike UVLS (my prior project at ASML), it consists of several more optics and mounts/mechatronics (about 50 vs. about 5 in UVLS) in relatively the same volume. My initial tasks included making sure the existing product line was ramped up for volume production, and this entailed addressing issues in the field with both containment and structural solutions. My current tasks are to breakdown the overall scope of work for the next generation sensor and plan it out into project milestones that align with the project timing. This requires a detailed understanding of each task and its complexity, and also being able to optimize resource allocation across the team.
Unfortunately, I cannot disclose details of the design changes for the modules I have worked on/am currently working on. However, I will list out my key achievements.
Key Achievements:
- Achieved volume production maturity for 1 product line in early 2020; closed out 10 field issues requiring design changes within 2 quarters
- Successfully shipped 2 new unique product lines by the end of 2020; I was accountable for meeting the project timeline for each product line, from idea conceptualization till parts procurement and sensor build/qualification. This was a great achievement for the team.
- Currently managing a team of 18 designers, for whom I own the task assignment and deliverable planning. This involves weekly 1:1’s with each designer, a team meeting I host with the whole team and the project Architects, and cross-sectoral alignment on my part for each design as the Team Lead is the liaison between MDEV and the rest of D&E.
